Could dentures be considered a cosmetic enhancement?
Dentures can most certainly be a cosmetic enhancement and that is why flat pink
plastic looking dentures are history. The modern day kind of dentures are hand
constructed and are so realistically looking that it is hard to tell to even the
most discerning eye that they are not natural gums and teeth.
Whatever the reason for the loss of your teeth, it always has a negative effect on
your self-image and confidence. It also has a large influence on how you bite and
chew your food and obviously the kind of food you choose to eat. In addition, your
teeth act as a support structure for your cheeks and face and with the loss of your
teeth, due to the sagging a person tend to look much older than his or her actual
age. Fortunately with cosmetic dentures, all these problems can be addressed
without a problem and largely improve the life quality of a person.
Cosmetic dentures are especially designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of a
person. Special attention is given to enhance the look and comfort of an
individual. Most people who are still wearing the old traditional dentures can now
opt for improved cosmetic dentures that are likely to be better looking than the
conventional type. Cosmetic dentures are also an ideal solution to replace missing
teeth, especially if there are a number of missing teeth next to each other.
Types of Cosmetic Dentures
The two main types of cosmetic dentures are Acrylic dentures that are a plastic
kind of gum colored dentures and Cobalt Chromium dentures with a metal base with
gum colored plastic.
Acrylic cosmetic dentures are suitable when all the teeth are lost. It is also a
lighter form of dentures. Cobalt Chromium dentures are suitable when there are a
number of teeth stil in tact. It is a stronger and more stable form of dentures and
